Three years after the myelogram I slipped on a piece of waxed cardboard at work and sustained a back injury. I had to see an ortho-pedic doctor. After the x-rays he asked me when I had a myelogram. I was stunned and asked him how he knew I had one. He told me there was some dye in there yet. I knew now why the doctor that had done the myelogram proceedure had said "Oh just forget it, remove the needle." He was upset that I was in such pain and just gave up. The orthopedic doctor asked me lots of questions about the proceedure and shook his head a lot. When I told him about the headache and how long it lasted and how the light hurt my eyes he didn't hesitate and told me right away I had an allergic reaction to the dye that was put into my spinal column. I found out years later that there is iodine in the fluid that they inject and that I am allergic to iodine. It is amazing how much you learn by trial and error when it comes to medical proceedure because you aren't told much unless you know the right questions to ask. Well, we get past the back injury and I go back to work but I continue to get faint and am losing a lot of time on the job and the medical doctor is getting pretty impatient with me. He finally told me to either get out of the factory or he could not be responsible for my well being anymore as I think he felt there was a good chance I could faint and hit my head and really hurt myself. |
