"Letter From Grandpa..."
I got this letter from grandpa one day
It came two weeks after he passed away
I tore it open, this must be a joke
How could this happen, It must be a hoax.

It started, I'm fine Dede, just miss you
I'd like to see you and the other kids too
The tears started to run down my cheeks
It had been awhile sinse I'd seen him, weeks.
It read, "I saw some of your family the other day
It sure was nice, passed some time away
I sure miss your grandma a bunch
I sure miss her sugar cookies after lunch.

I miss her smile, I wish I could see her
Of going to be with her, I have no fear
You see, I gave my heart to Jesus awhile ago
So I'm ready to be with her, anytime, you know."
I felt so sad upon reading this letter
Then I thought it through and felt much better
Grandpa had thought of me, just before he passed away
Knowing this made for a much brighter day.

He'd mailed the letter a few days before he died
When I read it I really cried
It seems that grandpa wanted me to know
That he'd accepted Jesus before he could go
I still wondered why the letter came late
It was postmarked with an appropriate date
Grandpa tried, but something went wrong
The letter had gone where it didn't belong

Somehow, my aunt said, it had come back
She put it away and then lost track
A few weeks later she found it again
She shoved it in the mail, it came to me then
I have kept it for all of these years
Sometimes when I read it, it brings tears
But most of all, I feel love and contentment
I am so grateful to my aunt, this letter was sent
